The completion of transaction outsourcing coincided with the end of a 5-year project to implement a single SAP for Unilever Europe. I was appointed as PMO, reporting to the Financial Controller, to coordinate the budget and the work of eight, functionally managed, process teams. The biggest challenge was to resolve a large gap between the desired and available budget (from €35m to €27m), then to establish ways of working, reporting and roadmap for future developments before handing over to a less senior team member to continue the work.
